Strabismus

What is Strabismus?

Strabismus is a condition where the eyes are not properly aligned and will cause one eye to turn either continuously, or in some cases only intermittently; particularly when the eyes are tired or strained for lengthy periods. It can be either a disorder of the brain coordinating the eyes or due to one or more muscles around the eye pulling it.

Treatment

Strabismus is usually co-managed by an Orthoptist and your Ophthalmologist and is commonly treated with a combination of glasses and vision therapy. Surgery may be required on more severe cases however may depend on the underlying reason for the misalignment.
