Tasmania has a long history of ophthalmic genetics research and Tasmanian Eye Institute is a proud ambassador of Professor Alex Hewitt, a world-leading ophthalmic genetics expert based in Hobart. Tasmanian Eye Institute has funded the build and fit out of the first Australian dedication Ophthalmic Gene Therapy Centre which is based in Hobart, Tasmania. Being able to support Alex and his teams vision oftranslating CRISPR/Cas gene editing from the lab into real world therapies has been a major project for the directors of Tasmanian Eye Institute
